New ZBook Workstations Extend World's Thinnest and Lightest Business-Class Notebook Status Held by HP

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 5, 2015) - HP (NYSE: HPQ) today introduced the industry's thinnest and lightest workstation Ultrabooks™ (1), the HP ZBook 14 and 15u. HP also announced its next-generation virtual workstation and enhancements to its Remote Graphics Software.

The new products:

HP ZBook 14 and 15u Workstation Ultrabooks: With an unprecedented sleek and stylish design, these customizable workstations deliver impressive professional 3D graphics, high-performance/breakthrough storage and outstanding performance even for the most demanding applications.
The HP DL380z Virtual Workstation: Providing a true workstation experience, combined with end-to-end security, optimized IT management, and access to applications from almost any endpoint device, from virtually anywhere.
HP Remote Graphics Software (RGS) 7.1: Delivering faster performance for workstation or server-based graphic-rich applications and collaboration remotely in real time from any PC, thin client or Windows® tablet.

"Our new workstation Ultrabooks demonstrate our unwavering commitment to professional customers and the need for light, first-class mobile workstations to augment the design workflow," said Jim Zafarana, vice president and general manager, Commercial Solutions Business Unit, HP. "HP mobile, desktop and virtual workstations are the innovation engines of companies around the globe, designing everything from automobiles to block-buster movies."

ZBook Mobile Workstations Aid Digital Innovation
The second-generation ZBook 14 and 15u have a 14-inch or 15.6-inch diagonal high-performance screen size respectively, and are customizable workstations equipped with Microsoft Windows 8.1, 5th-generation Intel® Core™ processors, professional AMD FirePro™ 3D graphics. The ZBook 14 has optional touch display and intuitive 10-point multi-touch full-HD screen options. Adding to the market share-leading HP Z Workstation portfolio, the new HP ZBook Mobile Workstations offer availability of certified workstation applications from Adobe®, Autodesk, Avid, Dassault, ESRI, SolidWorks, Siemens and many others.

Both ZBook Mobile Workstation models provide up to 16 GB of memory(2) and up to 1.25 TB of storage(3), plus HP Z Turbo Drive (PCIe connected solid-state storage) for 2X the performance of SATA SSD. The durable and reliable HP ZBook Mobile Workstations are designed to undergo MIL-STD(4) 810G testing and underwent 115,000 hours of testing in the HP Total Test Process.

Today, digital innovations and the ongoing move from 2D to 3D have created an explosion of digital content and new demands on video and graphics tools. HP Z products are designed to meet the users in the film/video editing, graphic design, CAD, education, architecture, manufacturing, finance and healthcare markets.

Virtual Workstation Optimized for IT
The HP DL380z Virtual Workstation Gen 9 provides Z Workstation power with datacenter security and access from virtually anywhere. The DL380z offers an increase in power, more integrated I/O and an enhanced chassis with more expandability than the previous generation. Users will experience vibrant high-end 3D graphics performance due in part to the latest suite of professional graphics, including NVIDIA GRID™ cards. The DL380z has an innovative 2U rack mount, is powered by next-generation Intel E5 v3 processors with up to 36 cores(5), up to 3.5 GHz; up to 1.5 TB DDR4 2133 MHz memory(6) and operates with a Windows and Linux® Client OS.

HP Virtual Workstations support Citrix® and VMware® virtualized environments, designed for centrally controlled deployment and management for different user profiles with flexible provisioning and multiple configuration options. Central management helps keep sensitive data out of the wrong hands by only transmitting encrypted pixel data over LAN or WAN. Coupled with HP RGS, the DL380z delivers great interactivity, even over long distances and poor network connections thanks to HP Velocity WAN optimization software, included with HP RGS or HP Thin clients.

Remote Graphics Software Boosts Remote Editing
With HP RGS(7) 7.1, HP is responding with a 60 percent boost in performance to the already best-in-class remote graphics software. Media and entertainment workstation customers with higher resolution displays and the need for perfect image playback, now can do all editing remotely without limitations. RGS 7.1 also allows native Wacom tablet redirection to Linux at animation and FX studios across the country for collaboration between studios and remote offices to speed up the digital editing and content creation process.

Price and Availability

The HP ZBook 14 and 15u Workstation Ultrabook products are expected to be available worldwide beginning January. Estimated U.S. pricing starts at $1,249 and $1,199, respectively.
The HP DL380z Virtual Workstation is available now. Pricing is available upon request.
HP Remote Graphics Software 7.1 is expected to begin shipping on HP Z Desktop and Mobile ZBook Workstations starting in April 2015 and will be available as a free download for existing HP Z Workstation customers at the same time. It will also be available to purchase for use on all other supported hardware.

Oct 24 2008 - Richmond, Texas, Rebuttal Submitted - Inverter Central Title: Inverter Central Www.invertercentral.com refuses to refund money on non-working LCD inverter Perry Maine Body: my laptop needs a new LCD Invertor -- my display goes dead after 2 minutes but works fine with an extermal monitor. I ordered a replacement after a live chat that they said based on the above problem it was my LCD invertor that was bad. I received it installed it and sill had the same problem -- dead display after 2 minutes. I got back to chat and got authorized to get a cross shipped replacement. I mail the 1st one back. The 2nd one arrived and my display still dies after 2 minutes. I got back to chat (live help link) and all they said they were not responsible for a mis diagnosed problem. but offered to send a 3rd one when i asked about a refund. They said it was possible to have sent 1 bad invertor but not 2. neither one worked as my display still goes dead after 2 minutes. their policy does say "If we cannot provide a working part in a timely fashion they will give a complete refund including shipping." both invertors they sent do not work as they go dead after 2 minutes. if i ship the part back they will only send another one out. but i wind up paying shipping -- so eventually the shipping will end up costing me more than the part. --I mentioned that I paid with a Credit Card and could dispute it there. their responce was "go ahead" -- but i am right now stuck with a their non-working LCD invertor. Aug 20, 2008 - Bonney Lake, Washington, Rebuttal Submitted - InverterCentral.com Title: InverterCentral.com Scammed me out of $120 Bangor Michigan Body: I purchased an inverter for my Alienware Laptop a couple months back for $110 + an additional $10 extra for faster shipping [from http://www.invertercentral.com]. I received the inverter but when I took it to the shop that was working on my laptop they had told me it was broken. I quicly sent it back to InverterCentral. I called a few days later and they told me that they received it and they would process my exchange. I called back a week later but they didn't pick up. I found that unusual considering they always picked up. I continued calling daily (up to 5 times a day) to find out information on my situation but they continued to ignore me. I e-mailed them and used Live Support daily to try and communicate with their employees hoping that it was a miss-communication issue of some bizarre sort. Whenever I had used "Live Support" I would be helped until I told them my situation and that is where they would ignore me. I got very upset as I don't have a lot of money.. I just wanted a refund and nothing more but to get out of this mess. They REFUSE to help and I would recommend NO ONE USE WWW.INVERTERCENTRAL.COM FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY! Looking forward to getting a response from the company and I will continue calling until I get back whats mine. It has been about 4 months and this is absolutely RIDICULOUS. Title: InverterCentral.com - InverterCentral are misleading and false advertising Comment 1: - Mar 20th, 2008 InverterCentral.com falsely advertises the following when your laptop screen stops working: Replacing the backlight inverter fixes the following symptoms 17 out of 20 Times: Dim Screen,Flickering Display, Wavy Lines,Blinking LCD Panel, Panel Buzzing,Shades of Pink, The problem I experienced where some of the above, but when I put in the new part it didn't fix my problem. If you look at the fine print buried on their website which they've cleverly hinden this is return policy: THERE IS NO REFUND FOR "deciding the part is no longer needed for any reason" Which means if it doesn't work, which is my case, you are screwed. My advice, buy a new monitor and if it includes the inverter, so much the better. In my case, the replacement screen with inverter included fixed my problem. Comment 2 - 2008-05-20 I also want to alert all with this company InverterCentral.com. I am from Brazil, I made the search for the site with the model and I bought a to invert, they ordered me the wrong device and now they disconnect me of the attendance on line whenever I try to argue. That company type has to be banished of the virtual world. Comment 3 - 2008-07-08 I ordered a panel during the month 02/2008. 10 days later, When I received it, it had 2 big scratches on, so I directly did a RMA on the InverterCentral WEB site and returned the broken panel by 'Coliposte' (Like 'USPS' in FRANCE). 1 week later I verified directly with the hotline that they have well received the panel that I returned to them and also that they were OK to replace it by sending me a new one. But the second panel never came. After having wait for 3 months during I contacted the hotline to many times (and heard to many lies), I decided to cancel the order and ask to be refunded (188 euros) because they can't provide me the panel I bought. Now, I have spent more than 1 month asking them to be refund, contacting them nearly all the days, lots of times by a day ! It's a real fight ! They know me and my problem of being refunded. I try to have an answer of 'Lisa', the supervisor who treat my problem, but she seemed to be in meeting all the time and when she isn't in meeting, answering me is not her priority. I just want to be refunded, I wait for more than 4 months, It's very difficult and even more for people like me who live on the other side of the Atlantic. I feel so tired and stressed by this story. Comment 4 - 2008-08-21 They have also refused to help me or even talk to me. I am out $120 to them and this is absolutely ridiculous. They sent me a broken inverter and refused to refund when they had the inverter in THEIR POSSESSION. Comment 5 - 2010-12-22 I ordered an inverter from this company on 12/17. The web site stated that the part was in stock and would ship th enext day. Now, 5 days later, the order status says they are waiting to receive the part from some other location, with the estimated ship date of 12/27. So, with my laptop dead for 10 days I apparently have to wait for them to ship the part via a slow llama from half way around the world. I guess "in stock" means that it's in stock somewhere, just not necessarily with them. Save yourself the trouble and order from another company. Comment 6 - 2014-06-13 YOU SHOULD SIMPLY WALK AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, NO SIGN OF hq LOCATION, ETC ETC, NEVER REPLY TO QUESTION, TANKS HIGHLY FOR ABOVE REMARKS, IT HELPED ME TO TO FALL IN THE TRAP. tHERE ARE OTHER MORE SECURE COMPANIES ON THE WEB, EVEN IF MORE EXPENSIVE. Comment 7 - 2015-01-06 Email the company about an invertor got a reply ordered the invertor took longer for it to ship than they said. Got the invertor and its the wrong one the email address that they emailed me from is no longer any good. No reply's to emails from there web site or phone calls. Disputed with PayPal with no reply from vendor made a claim and they offer an 18.00 credit for something I didn't order. PayPal said to mail it back and then refused my claim so they got the part back and my money. DON"T buy from this company
